About the Volvo XC60

Volvo XC60

The XC60 is the best-selling Volvo model of all time, thanks to exceptional versatility, outstanding standard equipment, advanced technology, and a Scandinavian approach to luxury and design that immediately sets the XC60 apart from the overly styled competition. A highly capable drivetrain is combined with a sophisticated suspension setup to give you a highly enjoyable driving experience. Adding to that enjoyment is a comfortable and thoughtfully designed interior that features high-quality materials and a detail-oriented approach to luxury. Advanced technology, especially safety technology, has always been important to Volvo, and the XC60 comes with an unbeatable quantity of it, even as standard equipment. The all-around usability and enjoyable nature of the XC60 make it easy to see why it’s so popular.

What the Critics Say

“Borrowing interior and exterior styling cues from the larger XC90 SUV gives the XC60 a head start in the desirability department, but it backs up its premium, contemporary image with a long list of standard and optional features that elevate it above many of its rivals.” – Car and Driver

“Yes, the Volvo XC60 is a good SUV. It offers three capable powertrains, including a plug-in hybrid, and it gets good gas mileage while providing a comfortable ride. The interior is arguably the finest in the class, with ample cargo space, plenty of features, and plush, spacious seats.” – U.S. News & World Report

What’s New For 2026

There have been a few changes to the XC60 for 2026, all of them very easy to spot. The first is a new grille design that follows the new design language first introduced on the XC90. Inside, you’ll find a new 11.2-inch infotainment touchscreen that is bigger, faster, and has higher definition graphics than the old 9-inch unit. There are also three new paint colors for this year: Forest Lake, Aurora Silver, and Mulberry Red.

Volvo XC60 Features

Volvo XC60

Versatile Capability

The XC60 comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 247 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. This is an efficient engine already, but Volvo adds a mild hybrid system for improved fuel efficiency and performance, particularly at low speeds. All-wheel drive comes standard, one of many things that sets the XC60 apart from competitors. Another thing that sets it apart is the double wishbone front suspension. While most vehicles in this size range use a space/cost saving strut setup, Volvo opted to give the XC60 the superior control and handling that come with a double wishbone system. The towing capacity of the XC60 also features a class-leading towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. This makes sense though, since the 63.3 cubic feet of maximum cargo space means that it’s only larger things that will need to be towed.

Volvo XC60 Interior

Luxury Interior

The XC60 interior is designed to emphasize quality and comfort. Things like driftwood trim pieces, available Nappa leather seat upholstery, and a gear selector knob made of genuine Orrefors® crystal ensure that the things that you touch have a pleasant and high-quality feel to them. But sight and touch aren’t the only senses pampered by the XC60; there are also two different premium stereo systems offered. The first is a Harman Kardon system with 14 speakers and a 600-watt output. This is an exceptional system, but for those who still want more, there is another option. This is a Bowers & Wilkins system with 15 speakers and a staggering 1,410-watt output. And all of this is controlled by a responsive 11.2-inch touchscreen with a Google built-in operating system, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

Volvo XC60 Driver Display

Advanced Technology

Volvo loaded the XC60 with all kinds of advanced technology in order to improve every aspect of the experience. The standard driver display and available head-up display make it easy to get all the information you need while keeping your eyes on the road. Even seeing what’s behind you is enhanced by technology, thanks to the available digital rear-view mirror. Ride comfort is greatly enhanced by the available active air suspension, and you’ll stay a comfortable temperature as well, thanks to standard heated front seats and available front seat ventilation and a heated steering wheel. This being Volvo, safety is also greatly enhanced, with tech like rain-sensing wipers, Lane Keeping Aid, Oncoming Lane Mitigation, BLIS™ and Cross Traffic Alert, and Park Assist to help prevent even low-speed bumps and scratches.
