    About The Volvo XC90

    Volvo XC90

Few vehicles have ever been as widely loved as the Volvo XC90. This versatile, comfortable, and even exceedingly good-looking family-friendly SUV earns praise wherever it goes, and it sets the bar for the whole Volvo lineup. Multiple drivetrains are offered, with a standard mild hybrid system for improved low-end power and fuel efficiency. Thanks to a long list of standard equipment, the XC90 can seat up to seven in comfortable Scandinavian luxury. To go with all of that luxury, the XC90 also offers a surprising amount of cargo space, as well as an impressive towing capacity that lets you take whatever you need wherever you need to go. The XC90 has refined handling for an enjoyable driving experience, and the available air suspension makes for an incredibly smooth ride.

    What the Critics Say

“One reason we like the XC90 so much is that it’s far prettier than any of its competition. It’s easy for a three-row crossover to turn out as a dull box, but Volvo’s designers manage to drape delicate sheetmetal over the XC90’s bones in a way that draws the eye. On this tester, the graceful Denim Blue bodywork contrasts against chrome and brushed-metal accents. Bold lighting elements, with LEDs and the well-known “Thor’s Hammer” running lights, also add curb appeal.” – Roadshow by CNET

“After driving the XC90 again, it reminded me of why I fell in love with it initially. The style, the easy-going driving experience and the well implemented safety features still make it a standout in this class – the sum is somehow greater than the parts.” – Cars.com

    Volvo XC90 Features

    Volvo XC90

    Capable Versatility

The XC90 comes with a choice of two similar drivetrains, both of which use 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines. The B5 produces 247 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque, while the more powerful B6 produces 295 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Each drivetrain has its advantages, and here is where we see that they have a lot in common. Both come with all-wheel drive and a mild hybrid system, as well as an advanced 8-speed Geartronic™ automatic transmission. The two also have the same 5,000-pound towing capacity, which gives the XC90 another big bump in functionality. Inside, the XC90 has a maximum cargo capacity of 85.7 cubic feet, with a wide-opening and flat load area in the back, which also comes with a 12V outlet as standard.

    Volvo XC90 Interior

    Luxury Interior

A Scandinavian design aesthetic is a major part of Volvo’s brand identity, and the XC90 looks as good on the inside as it does on the outside. The design is clean and uncluttered, with an emphasis on quality materials and functionality over flash. So Volvo offers upholstery options like Nordico, nappa leather, and premium textiles, as well as open pore wood trim in a variety of different forms. Even the gear selector is made of genuine crystal, made for Volvo by Orrefors®, a crystal manufacturer with a similar approach to Scandinavian design. There is a lot of natural light, in keeping with contemporary Scandinavian architecture, thanks to the standard panoramic roof. Soft ambient lighting lets you see what you’re doing at night, and four-zone automatic climate control makes sure everyone is comfortable at any time of day or year. An available 600-watt Harman Kardon stereo system with 14 speakers and an air-ventilated subwoofer makes the XC90 a great place to listen to music.

    Advanced Technology

As a flagship model for Volvo, the XC90 is packed with the latest in tech features. This includes things like the 12.3-inch driver display, which is customizable to show whatever information is most relevant at the moment. To make things even easier, there is an available head-up display, so you never have to take your eyes off the road. Some other standard tech features that help keep you safe include rain-sensing wipers, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot/cross traffic alerts. Things like Lane Keeping Aid are standard, but for the full suite of semi-autonomous driving features, there is the available Pilot Assist. This system keeps you centered in the lane and adds stop-and-go capabilities to the adaptive cruise control. And even when you’re not in the vehicle, the Volvo Cars App gives you access to a variety of functions, including location, status, and remote starting.
