It’s not often that a family-friendly vehicle achieves icon status, but if there has ever been one, it is the Volvo XC90. The three-row SUV offers luxury, safety, and a high level of standard equipment, all wrapped in stylish Scandinavian sheet metal. Standard equipment includes an all-wheel drive drivetrain, and there is a more powerful engine upgrade available on any trim. While the Core trim includes everything that makes the XC90 appealing, there are two other trims that offer even more, so we’ve put together this guide to help you pick out the trim that works best for you.

2026 Volvo XC90 Core

Starting at $62,445 MSRP*

The Core might be the base trim of the XC90, but it comes better equipped than you would expect from Volvo’s competitors. It comes with the B5 AWD drivetrain as standard, which includes a mild hybrid system and makes 247 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. The interior upholstery is made from Nordico and is available in Charcoal or Cardamom. The Core is available only with the 7-seat configuration. Here’s the standard equipment:

The Plus adds to the already impressive list of standard equipment that comes with the Core. There is a bigger set of 21-inch wheels standard, as well as some driver’s support features, like a 360 camera and Park Assist. The Plus features the same engine, paint, and interior color options as the Core. However, there is a wider selection of 22-inch wheel designs, and the 6-seat configuration, which replaces the second-row bench with a pair of captains’ chairs, is available for the Plus. Optional Equipment

There isn’t much that’s not standard on the Ultra trim of the XC90, but there are a handful of options for those who want something more specific out of their vehicle. The two big options are the more powerful (295 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque) B6 drivetrain and the 6-seat interior configuration.
