What’s New For 2026
Several elements of the XC60 were redesigned for 2026. Most noticeable is the new grille design, or the three new paint colors that are on offer: Forest Lake, Aurora Silver, and Mulberry Red. Inside, the infotainment system has been upgraded to be quicker and display improved graphics on the new, bigger 11.2-inch touchscreen.

Serious Performance
The XC60 Plug-In Hybrid is much more than just an XC60 that uses less gas; the T8 PHEV drivetrain comes with some serious advantages. For starters, it produces a system total of 455 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque. Those are serious performance vehicle numbers, and it’s therefore no surprise that the XC60 Plug-In Hybrid can jump from 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds, a full two seconds quicker than the conventional XC60, which puts the XC60 Plug-In Hybrid in an entirely different performance league. Yet it is also practical, with a 35-mile all-electric range that will be more than enough for the daily driving needs of most people. And on those occasions when you do need to use some gasoline, the PHEV drivetrain delivers a combined rating of 63 MPGe. There’s even a 3,500-pound towing capacity, another standout for the segment.
Sophisticated Styling
Styling has always been a big selling point for Volvo. The brand’s distinctly Scandinavian design ethos sets it apart from the gimmicky look-at-me styling that dominates the mostly German competition. There is an emphasis on clean lines and high-quality materials. A good example is the gear selector, which is made of genuine crystal, made by Orrefors®, a Swedish manufacturer of luxury glassware. Available materials include nappa leather upholstery and driftwood trim, which make surfaces feel as good as they look. Even the standard stereo system, which features 10 speakers and a total output of 220 watts, far exceeds expectations. And for anyone wanting an audiophile-grade experience, there are two premium systems offered, one from Harman Kardon and one from Bowers & Wilkins.
Advanced Technology
Thanks to the PHEV drivetrain, the XC60 Plug-In Hybrid already has a major technological advantage over competitors. But that’s far from the only piece of advanced technology you’ll find. There is available active air suspension, which monitors the vehicle, driver, and road 500 times a second to deliver an incredibly smooth and quiet ride, to go with the smooth and quiet drivetrain. There are five different drive modes too, to help you really dial in your driving experience. The fully digital instrument panel comes standard, and to help you keep your eyes on the road, there is an available head-up display. Volvo puts a greater emphasis on air quality than most manufacturers, and the available air purifying system will monitor cabin air quality and turn on automatically when needed.
