2026 Volvo XC90 Gas Mileage & Fuel Economy
Volvo XC90 Drivetrains Explained
There are three drivetrains available for the XC90, which sounds like it could get complicated, but Volvo has actually made things as simple as possible by doing things like making all-wheel drive standard on all three. They all three also use the same 18.8-gallon fuel tank, and are all three rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds. In addition, the trim lineup is the same across the board, so no need to buy one specific trim in order to get the drivetrain you want. Two of these drivetrains, the B5 and B6 use mild hybrid systems. These give a small boost in fuel economy, but without all of the expense and weight of a full conventional hybrid system. The other option, the T8, is a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, which offers significant advantages in both power and fuel economy, but also comes with a higher price tag.
