About the Volvo XC90 Plug-In Hybrid
The Volvo XC90 Plug-In Hybrid balances everyday practicality and efficiency with incredible performance and luxury without the need for any compromises. This large, three-row SUV can fit the whole family and tow up to 5,000 pounds at the same time, and it looks great while doing it. The powerful drivetrain delivers sports car-like acceleration, but is also rated at 58 MPGe combined, and all-wheel drive comes standard. It will travel 32 miles on electric power alone, meaning quite a few people can do their daily commute without using any gasoline at all. The interior is comfortable, leaning into Volvo’s Scandinavian origins to provide a clean and functional cabin that will make miles melt away. The XC90 Plug-In Hybrid is also loaded with high-tech features to help you remain comfortable and safe.
What the Critics Say
“The XC90’s interior is a masterpiece of the medium. From the attractive design to the quality of the materials, we wish there were more vehicles like this.”” – Car & Driver
“The three-row XC90 has a handsome interior with top-notch materials, room for up to seven occupants, and an expansive cargo area. It’s loaded with advanced tech and safety features, and it offers engine options that provide great fuel economy and reasonably zippy performance. This is especially true of the T8 plug-in-hybrid variant.”” – U.S. News & World Report/p>
Volvo XC90 Plug-In Hybrid Features

Powerful Efficiency
The XC90 Plug-In Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine mated to a potent plug-in hybrid drivetrain. This produces a system total of 455 horsepower and 523 lb-ft of torque. That’s quite a lot, and the result is a 0-60 time of just 5 seconds, uncommonly quick for a three-row SUV. All-wheel drive comes standard, which is part of the reason why the XC90 Pug-In Hybrid is rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds. But even with all of this power, the plug-in hybrid drivetrain is incredibly efficient, rated at 58 MPGe combined, and capable of traveling up to 32 miles on electric power alone with a full charge. On a home 240v charger, you fully charge a completely drained battery in just 5 hours.

Sophisticated Style
Volvo has always taken a different approach to luxury than its German competitors. The Swedish automaker employs a very Scandinavian design philosophy, one that emphasises high-quality materials and comfort over flashy gimmicks. A closer look at the details in the cabin reveals things like a gear selector made of genuine crystal, supplied by the Swedish glass company Orrefors®. The upholstery is available in nappa leather or high-end textiles in a herringbone weave for those who prefer an animal-free interior. A panoramic glass roof comes standard, giving you an open feeling with lots of natural light. Heated seats are standard, and not just for the front row like you’ll find in competitors, the second row is heated as well. A heated steering wheel is also standard, as is four-zone climate control, to make sure that everyone can enjoy the temperature that’s comfortable for them.

Advanced Technology
Advanced technology is obviously important to what makes the XC90 Plug-In Hybrid special, given that it’s the advanced drivetrain technology that sets it apart from the conventional XC90. But technology has enhanced every aspect of the XC90 Plug-In Hybrid, from the standard wireless charging pad to the 11.2-inch central touchscreen with Google built in. Driver’s aids are important to Volvo, as they do a lot to enhance safety. So things like Lane Keeping Aid, BLIS™ and Cross Traffic Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control all come standard. A head-up display is available too, to help you keep your eyes on the road while driving. There are two different premium stereos offered too. The first is a Harman Kardon Premium Sound System with 14 speakers and a 600 W amplifier, which comes standard on the Ultra trim. But for the audiophiles, there is an available 1,410 W Bowers & Wilkins system with 19 speakers.
